If you are expecting 'real tools' with this product you will be disappointed! They are made of plastic. Whilst my son is enjoying it, I'm a bit annoyed at the advertising to be honest, I wasn't expecting plastic tools and the 'kid wood' to be ...foam! Quite flimsy and to be honest we gave up on the tools and used scissors for most of the cutting as the 'saw' was just dragging and making rough edges.
The 'instructions' are useless as well, my hubbie had problems with following them, there is no way a child could.
We will use it but if I was after a genuine kids tool set then I wouldn't bother with this, and I think that it is way over priced for what it is.

My son had this bought as a present. Yes the wood is foam and the tools plastic, but for a 7 year old its great. Its the same procedure as if it were real tools and wood, but with this set its safe enough to be left alone with. My son has played with it with friends too and they've had a great time constructing planes, boats etc, my only complaint is the wood/ nails and screws quickly ran out - so I'm now shopping for extras, thats proving to be expensive!

This toy uses foam to replace wood in a construction system. Now you can learn how to create and build using safe tools and non splintering easy to cut "kid wood". Put down those video games and pick up a hammer saw and nails and spend an afternoon building things from the imagination. Kids will be engaged for a long time learning how to master using a saw or drill and they all love to hammer. You can really see their pride when they create things from their mind from scratch with their hands. Learn hand and mental skills while having fun-

The instructions are a little vague, but the web site says they will have "how to" videos soon, and some How2 videos have been posted on YouTube (US).

I suggest buying refill packs, that way if a little one makes a mistake there are fewer tears, because a replacement piece is nearby. They sets come with enough wood to create several items, but some of the projects you have to use all the material.
